Almaaz
Almaaz is a yellow-white supergiant (spectral type F0Ia) about 2,000 light-years away. With an apparent magnitude of 3.03 it is easy to see even from a city.
Every 27 years it is dimmed for almost two years by a huge disk of dust.
Its light output is roughly 19,700 times that of the Sun (a rough estimate in visible light, calculated from brightness and distance).
From Germany (52° N) it never sets: it stays above the horizon all year.
