Centaurian for Android
The Centaurian app puts the universe and world history on your phone: listen to music even with the screen off, explore planets, stars and empires, and watch the night sky live.
What the app can do
Live night sky
See which stars and planets are above you right now, matched to your location and time.
Explore the universe
Planets, stars, constellations and black holes with texts, images and 3D views.
World history
Empires and their history at a glance, from antiquity to today.
Music in the background
Play songs and keep them going with the screen off or in another app. Pause, skip, go back and seek right from the notification.
Tools and favourites
Calculators for weight, age and travel time in space, saved songs, a particle cover that reacts to the music, and 15 languages.
How to install it
- 1
Get the file
Tap “Download APK”. The file is the complete app.
- 2
Allow the source
Open the file. Android asks whether this source may install apps. Allow it for this one step.
- 3
Install
Tap “Install”. If Google Play Protect asks, choose “Install anyway”.
Android always warns about apps from outside the Play Store. This is normal and not a sign of a problem.
Permissions
The app only asks for what a feature really needs. You can take back any permission in the Android settings.
- Notifications
- Show title, cover and the music controls, also on the lock screen. Recommended.
- Location
- Only for the night sky, so it matches your place. Optional. Your location never leaves your phone.
- Audio
- Only so the cover particles dance to the bass. Optional and off by default (Settings → Bass reaction). Nothing is recorded or stored.
- Install apps
- Only needed when you install an update from inside the app. You confirm it yourself every time.
Safety and privacy
- No accounts, no ads, no tracking. The app collects no personal data.
- Updates are checked with a checksum (SHA-256) before installing, and Android only installs them if they carry the same signature.
- The file comes straight from this project's official release. Only download it from this page.
Common questions
Does the app cost anything?
No. It is free and has no ads.
Is there an iPhone version?
No, Android only. On iPhone just use the website in your browser.
Why not in the Play Store?
So far the app is only a direct download. That is why Android shows the unknown-source warning. It is normal.
